The Family Research Council released the following media alert about their initiative to promote the posting of the 10 commandments on Capitol Hill:

A CAPITOL HILL KICK-OFF: FAMILY RESEARCH COUNCIL AND MEMBERS OF CONGRESS TO LAUNCH NATIONAL CAMPAIGN TO POST TEN COMMANDMENTS

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- On Thursday, Oct. 21st at 9:30 a.m., Family Research Council (FRC) and numerous members of Congress will launch the first leg of a national campaign to post the Ten Commandments. Members will receive a framed copy of the Ten Commandments that they have agreed to post publicly in their Capitol Hill offices. By posting them in public places, members will send a clear message that the Ten Commandments are an integral part of public life and should be posted to promote a virtuous and civil society. The news conference will take place in room H-137 of the U.S. Capitol Building.

Family Research Council Chief Spokesperson Janet Parshall will discuss the details of a nationwide effort to encourage public officials - from governors to legislators and jurists
- and citizens - from youth groups to unions - to post the Ten Commandments. Parshall describes the campaign as "a reminder for our nation that the Ten Commandments belong in
the public square."

In the wake of school shootings, many communities, schools, and courthouses across the country have already decided to publicly display the Ten Commandments. "This bold gesture by members of Congress will be a spark, we hope, to encourage these efforts already underway," Parshall said. The following members have already stated their intentions
to take a stand for the public posting of the Ten Commandments and will appear at the news conference:
