Hoy started playing polo 4 years ago with the Muldoon family at Potomac Polo Club, and quickly became addicted. He is a mathematician and recently retired as Professor of Mathematics at Gallaudet University. He and his wife, Nancy, live in Bethesda MD. They have two kids: Courtney and Brian.
